Berry Phase and Topological Insulators Berry phase of electrons and topological insulators are now hot topics in condensed matter physics. It may be, however, tough to catch the image when you see a sentence like “Berry curvature corresponds to a magnetic field for electrons”. Nevertheless, we cannot neglect this movement because the Berry phase and topological insulators are essentially related to electron spins. Several familiar words, for example, “spin Hall effects” and “spin currents”, can be found in many talks in this symposium.
