Biomedical Magnetic Beads : Preparation and Application
Recently, there have been major advances in the biomedical applications of magnetic beads with a concurrent increase in both the number of active researchers and their areas of interest. Practical in vitro applications of magnetic beads include bio-screening and magnetic labels for detection of bioactive molecules. Clinical in vivo applications include the use of magnetic beads as MRI contrast agents for liver cancer diagnosis and anticancer hyperthermia.
In this symposium, internationally acclaimed researchers will describe their current studies on medical magnetic beads ranging from synthesis to their extensive range of applications. In particular, Professor Sara Majetich (Distinguished Lecturer of IEEE Magnetics Society), Carnegie Mellon University, and Dr. Todd Tilma, a technology analyst based in Tokyo, will discuss the present status and future prospects of medical magnetic beads.
