The “Journal of the Magnetics Society of Japan” and “Magnetics Japan” (hereinafter “the Journals”) are publications of the Magnetics Society of Japan (hereinafter “the Society”) and contain articles requested by the Editorial Committee of the Society (hereinafter “the Committee”) and submitted articles. “Journal of the Magnetics Society of Japan” (hereinafter “JMSJ”) contains contributed papers. “Magnetics Japan” consists of Guest Comment, Review, Topics, New Technologies and Products, a Notice Board, a Members’ Column, and other articles. Papers in JMSJ are published also online. Accepted manuscripts will be published in advance of formal publication on the online journal, unless refused by author.

1. Contents of the Journals
The Journals will carry Guest Comments, Reviews, Topics, Contributed Papers, New Technologies, Series course of magnetics, Yomoyama-banashi of magnetics research and Products, a Notice Board, a Members’ Column, and other articles.

1.1 Contributed Papers
There are five types of contributed papers: Regular Papers, Review Papers, Letters, Short Notes, and International Conference Papers, as described below. Papers must be written in English and are published in JMSJ (including online JMSJ). Contributed papers must meet the following conditions:
1) Field: The contents must be related to the field of basic or applied magnetics.
2) Contribution: The results must contribute to the development of basic science or industry.
3) Novelty: The papers must be original and contain new results that cannot be directly derived from obvious facts or published results excluding the Review Papers.
4) Reliability: The contents must be reliable, and sufficient information must be included to allow reproduction of the results.
5) Understandability: The papers must be precisely and clearly described in a manner understandable to the readers.
6) Format: The manuscript format must conform to the directions given in “A Guideline for Preparation of Manuscripts for Submission to the Magnetics Society of Japan.” It is the authors’ responsibility to write in good scientific American English.
1.1.1 Regular Papers
Papers in this category must contain original research results in basic or applied magnetics with significant conclusions or experimental results. Sufficient information must be included to allow reproduction of the experiment or analysis.
1.1.2 Review Papers
Review Papers arranges the finding concerning the magnetics in a certain viewpoint, and novelty is not necessarily. In general, the review papers are written by request of the committee, also the contribution from a general author is accepted too. However, the committee judges the decision of the acceptance.
1.1.3 Letters
Letters must contain original research results in basic or applied magnetics with significant conclusions or experimental results that are worth reporting quickly. Sufficient information must be included to allow reproduction of the experiment or analysis. The length of a Letter will typically be less than four printed pages, including the English abstract.
1.1.4 Short Notes
Short Notes should include new observations, valuable data, measurement methods, or original contributions to basic or applied magnetics. The length of a Short Note will typically be less than two printed pages, including the English abstract.
1.1.5 International Conference Papers
Papers in this category should have been presented at a previous international conference on basic or applied magnetics whose proceedings have been accepted by the Society for publication. Papers in this category must contain original research results in basic or applied magnetics with significant conclusions or experimental results. Sufficient information must be included to allow reproduction of the experiment or analysis. The length of the paper will be decided by the conference organizer.
1.1.6 Papers on special issues
Papers on special issues should be research reports presented at an annual conference of this society, containing original research content on the basics and applications of magnetism, including valuable conclusions or experimental results, and having enough information to guarantee the possibility of re-examination. There is no limit on the number of pages.

Articles in this category will include views, ideas, and essays relating to magnetics prepared at the request of the Editorial Committee and are published in Magnetics Japan. An article typically will not exceed two printed pages in length.
1.3 Reviews
Reviews published in Magnetics Japan are requested by the Editorial Committee to cover areas in which remarkable advances have been made and members have an interest. Intelligible introductions, explanations, and descriptions should be included, with references to recent results reported by other researchers. Some reports referred to must be already published by the authors. The length of a Review should be within 8 printed pages.

Major related patents must be referred to. In part, the article may advertise specific products.
1.6 Series course of magnetics
The series course on magnetics is written at the request of the editorial committee. This course describes the basics of magnetic theory and applied technology in an easy-to-understand manner, even for beginners. In principle, the length of each article should be eight pages or less after printing, and there is no limit to the number of serializations.
1.7 Yomoyama-banashi of magnetics research
Yomoyama-banashi of magnetics research is written at the request of the editorial committee, the content is a message to young researchers and engineers, centering on the experiences related to the research and development of researchers and engineers who have made great contributions to the theory of magnetism and technological development. Generally, it should be within 4 printed pages and published in every second issue.
