The 180th Topical Symposium of the Magnetics Society of Japan

Light and Magnetism in Meta-materials

Macroscopic materials consisting of artificial components much smaller than the wavelength are called meta-materials. Meta-materials enable us to realize the intriguing wave behaviors, which we have never observed in nature; for example, a negative refractive index or an invisible cloak using electromagnetic meta-materials in the microwave region. In this symposium, we are inviting speakers studying on the frontline of research into optical and magnetic properties of meta-materials. We hope to generate exciting and stimulating discussion among those interested in this field, relating to the possibilities of meta-materials.
