Physics of biomaterials |
It is quite often said that the 21st century is the era of biology, but we have been facing a lot of problems in understanding electronic structures of biomaterials such as DNA. It is mainly due to the difficulty of applying conventional techniques of condensed-matter physics to such systems. However, owing to the recent developments of spectroscopic and theoretical techniques, a lot of progress has been reported.
In this symposium, we will focus on condensed-matter-physics approaches to biomaterials, especially understanding electronic structures of DNA and protein, and one-dimensional electric transport by using biomaterials as a mold. Six top-level researchers will show their recent achievements. We welcome a lot of audience from various backgrounds.
