The 174th Topical Symposium of the Magnetics Society of Japan
The Physics of the "Spin-Crossover"
|
The oxides and the complex including the transition metal have the crucial role as ceramics, functional polymers and a biological material such as the haem-protein. The d-electrons of the transition metals enclosed by the ligand dominants the characteristic of these materials and d-electrons will take a variety of spin arrangement, which is correlated with the difference of the electronic state. That is, the spin state is united strongly with the electronic state. Moreover, if the spin arrangement can be changed by external stimulation, the change in variegated physical properties accompanied with the change of magnetism can be realized through the change of the electronic state. Actually, "Spin-crossover phenomena" by external stimulation such as the temperature, the magnetic field, and the light irradiation is observed in many materials. In such materials, variegated changes such as the electricity, optics, and thermo-physical properties are observed.
In this symposium, we spotlight "Spin-crossover phenomenon" in the transition metal oxides and the complex. Outstanding researchers will introduce the investigation. We would like a lot of audiences to participate the symposium.
