The 173rd Topical Symposium of the Magnetics Society of Japan
Heat and magnetism as energy-related technology
|
Finite fossil fuels such as petroleum are still the most commonly energy source. 60% of electric power in Japan is generated by combustion of such fossil fuels, which are indispensable to maintain the quality of our life. On the other hand, with more encouragement of suppression for CO2 emission causing green house warming, development of a new energy sources to replace present fossil fuels are desired more. Since the discovery of Faraday’s electromagnetic induction law, magnetism and energy are closely related with each other. So we would like to focus on the collaboration between magnetism and heat in this symposium. Recent exciting topics for magnetic refrigerating, thermoelectric and superconducting materials would be presented by distinguished researchers from the viewpoint of energy and ecology. We sincerely appreciate much participation of researcher and engineers who are interested in this issue.
