Magnetic Properties and Nanostructure Control for High Performance in Hard and Soft Magnetic Materials
Hard magnetic materials have been used in many applications in automobile, home electronics, IT and medical industries. Recently, their application extends to motors for HEVs and EPS in automobile industries and compressors for home electronics. Dust cores, which is one kind of soft magnetic materials, offer unique design possibilities for motor cores, and have attracted a great deal of attention from automobile industries. Soft magnetic materials using metallic glasses and nanoparticles are also interested. However, further improvement of magnetic properties is strongly demanded in both hard and soft magnetic materials. Microstructure control in nanometer size is one of useful methods for enhancement of magnetic properties and the 163rd Topical Symposium of the Magnetic Society of Japan aims reviewing the recent trend of microstructure control techniques. We sincerely appreciate participation of researchers and engineers who are interested in this field.
