Topical Symposium
The 151th Topical Symposium of the Magnetic Society of Japan
The 19th Symposium of the Hybrid Recording

Recent Progress of Basic Technology
for Ultra High-Density Heat Assisted Magnetic Recording
Storage devices, especially hard disk drives (HDDs), are remarkably improved these days. HDDs are applied to video recorders, mobile audio-visual systems, car navigation systems, and computer storage systems. A variety of those applications is spreading out further, so there is a big demand on improvement for HDDs of high density and large capacity, but the technical barriers are being pushed higher and higher. In these backgrounds, fundamental research of heat assisted magnetic recording has been progressed recently for making new breakthroughs.

In this topical symposium, we invited active researchers in the field of hybrid recording. Recent topics for hybrid recording including a related topic of multi-stacked Tera-Byte optical disk systems will be presented. We very much look forward to your participation.
