The 149th Topical Symposium of the Magnetic Society of Japan
Innovative Trends of Microwave Ferrite Devices and Expectation for the New LH-materials |
In 1956, the paper by C.L.Hogan," The Elements of Nonreciprocal Microwave Devices" (IRE proc.,Vol.44, Oct.1956,pp.1345-1368), was published. Since then, during a half century, "Circulator/Isolator" has become an indispensable component for microwave communication systems such as TV broadcasting base station, wireless systems for business and emergency, and recent mobile phone systems. Especially, here in Japan, the lumped element isolator has been uniquely developed, following the early research by the pioneer, Dr. Konishi. One of the great achievements of the last decade is the miniaturization of small isolator for mobile phone handsets. The 4mm square isolator has already been realized and the 3mm square will be launched into the market soon. Among the peripheral technologies, the manufacturing process technique such as thin / thick film deposition process and LTCC (Low Temperature Co-fired Ceramics) etc. are supporting the trends of miniaturization and integration. Furthermore, new topics like left-handed material have evolved in this field and new devices designed from a new point of view are expected.
In this symposium, we will focus on the recent research on microwave ferrite devices. We have invited a number of active researchers in this field. They will inform us the latest research achievements and discuss the microwave devices. We very much look forward to your participation.
